THE MIND'S EYE MUSIC CINEMA ANIMATION RADIO GAMES SMILES PHOTO
3DO 3DO

TECH SPECS:
Game Format: The 3DO™ system uses CD-ROM for its game media.
Main Processor: As the first 32-bit game machine, it has the slowest processor, the ARM60 at 12.5MHz.
Co-Processors: Nope, the main processor works alone.
Sound Processor: With CD-ROM at the core of its storage, you get CD-quality sound (16bit Stereo with a sampling rate of 44.1 kHz). You also get a 25MHz DSP (Digital Signal Processor) with 12 voice channels to clean up the audio tracks for better playback.
Maximum Colors: There is a total palette of 16.7 mollion colours, 32,000 of which can be displayed simultaneously. With millions of colors available on-screen, you get photographic quality. You will, however, probably see fewer colors used [like maybe 256) when full screen animations are used. This speeds the frame rate of the animation.
Maximum Resolution: This 32-bit machine gets a nice 640х480 pixels resolution, which is the size of a 14-inch monitor.
Maximum Sprite
Size/Second:
The 3DO system is capable of showing 20,000 sprites at one time on-screen per second.
Polygons/Second: Borrowing from the sprite technology, you can only get 20,000 polygons per second.
Onboard RAM: In order to buffer the loading of the double-speed CD-ROM, the 3DO™ system uses 3 megabytes of RAM. 3Mb separated into 2Mb of DRAM and 1Mb of VRAM. There's also another 1Mb allocated to ROM. This greatly improves the perceived load times by allowing you to play the portion of the game in RAM while the rest loads in the background.
Peripherals: MPEG module to play standard Video CDs.
